Goodbye Summer Hello Winter
Well, that's it, Summer is over.I know this because my walk to work is punctuated by the whiff of cheap perfume coming from baffled looking freshers wandering the streets of Sheffield like gaggles of orphaned chimps, not quite sure yet who the pack leader is, not yet sure what clothes are supposed to be cool, not yet sure whether they are having a good time or whether this was all some big mistake and they should have gone to Leeds or Bath instead.
I know summer is over because it is arse-fuckingly cold outside and I've had to crank up the heating and dig out my big coat and have been instilled with a craving for cockle warming foods like warm chunky soups, risotto and roast dinners.
I know the summer is over because all the things that crammed my diary to bursting these last few months are now happy memories for me to get nostalgic about.
I know summer is over because yesterday I settled my plans for Christmas and ended up whistful at the thought of parties, presents, mulled wine and winter markets, topped with the smell of roasting chestnuts.
I know summer is over because by the time I get home from work it is now nearly dark. So as the nights draw in, it seems like a good enough time to end my self imposed blogging hiatus and let everyone know what I've been up to these last few months, and what lies in store for the future.

I love autumn and winter. I've never been a fan of hot weather (not that there has been any this year) and rather than thinking it is 'arse-fuckingly cold outside' I think it is refreshing and bracing.
When it gets dark early and they heating is turned up it's nice to be at home all warm and toasty and Victoria makes just the right winter foods to warm you up, like a homne made casserole or a stew with home made dumplings.
It's great when it's freezing cold but the sun is out. The colours are amazing and the light is the better than at any other time of year.
I love this time of year!
I don't have to deal with new students though. :-)
I agree 100% with Christian, autumn and winter are the best seasons by far. I would further like to add they are great because it means it is snowboarding and winter sports time, which are way more fun than summer sports. Further more spring and summer suck balls because I have hay fever. Further reasoning is found in my usual summer vs. winter argument; if you are too hot, once you're naked you can't take anything else off. But in winter when you're too cold, you can always put more clothes on, that, simply put is why I prefer the cold to the hot.
I'm happy with the winter, but it would be sooo much better if there were no A) wind and B) Mud. Apart from that I love it. My special favourite time is really early on a Sunday morning when I go to my neddie and there's nobody about. Everyone else in the universe is still sleeping and it's just coming light. Extremely peaceful.
