The Age of the Spider
In spider news, I have caught two more of the those giant killer spiders, the last one being the biggest yet, approximately the size of a small child*. This time I released them into the wild rather than allowing them to die (of natural causes). Just when I'd got over that, I went to Flickr and saw in the "Your Contacts' Photos" section some photos of similar spider taken by Tony. It appears they're coming for him too. As predicted by Kemp, The Age of the Spider is upon us. One thing is for certain, there is no stopping them, the spiders will soon be here in abundance. And I for one welcome our new giant arachnid overlords. I would like to remind them that a trusted software developer would be very useful in creating an information network to help spread their message of fear and subservience.*'s toy spider

Yup, they are in Bristol too. I rescued a very large spider from my bath last week. I happened to have been watching The Return of the King the night before, and immediately recognised it as being of the same species as Shelob. It cunningly waited for me to go to work before hiding, so I have no idea where it is now.
Another largeish spider waited patiently for me to arrive home last night before abseiling from the kitchen light to attack me.
